Loosening Main Wire Harness In Passenger Compartment At The Left

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of main wire harness 

• Risk of damage to lines 

  → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

  → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

  → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of optical waveguides 

• Risk of damage to optical waveguide 

  → Observe the requirements for working with and installing optical waveguides.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work. 
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation. 
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts. 

1. Only for vehicles with air suspension:
   1. 1.1 Disconnect sub-part for air suspension on the underbody.
   2. 1.2 Disconnect electric plug connections on the compressor.

      > 431519 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPRESSOR

   3. 1.3 Disconnect electric plug connection on the valve unit.

      > 432355 - REPLACING VALVE UNIT

   4. 1.4 Unclip and expose electric line.
2. Only for vehicles with GPS antenna: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connection on GPS antenna.

   > 911319 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING GPS ANTENNA

3. Only for vehicles with front camera: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connection on front camera.

   > 963819 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT CAMERA

4. Only for vehicles with mobile communication antenna: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connection on mobile communication antenna.

   > 914719 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING MOBILE COMMUNICATION ANTENNA

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on airbag sensor on inner wheel arch at the rear left.

   > 695119 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR

6. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on front three-point belt.

   > 691119 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT THREE-POINT BELT

7. Disconnect electric plug connection for wire harness for rear left door in the B-pillar.

   Electric plug connection

   1. 7.1 Lever off locking mechanism for electric plug connection -1-  using a plastic wedge in an upward direction -arrow a-  and pull off electric plug connection.
   2. 7.2 Release electric plug connection -2-  (-arrow b-  ) and press it into the B-pillar.
8. Only for vehicles with KESSY: 

   Disconnect electric plug connection on KESSY/PAS antenna at the door entry guard and expose electric line.

   > 966719 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY/PAS ANTENNA

9. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on (central) headlight control unit.

   > 941619 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING (CENTRAL) HEADLIGHT CONTROL UNIT

10. Disconnect electric plug connection on wire harness for front left door at the bottom of the A-pillar.

    1. 10.1 Lever off locking mechanism for electric plug connection -1-  using a plastic wedge in an upward direction -arrow a  and pull off electric plug connection.
    2. 10.2 Release electric plug connection -2-  (-arrows b-  ) and press it into the A-pillar.
11. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  for the dashboard wire harness at the left.

12. Unscrew fastening nut -2-  and remove ground lines from the ground point.

13. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on combination sensor.
14. Loosen connector bracket -1-  under the driver's seat.

    1. 14.1 Unscrew fastening nut -2-  and remove connector bracket -1-  by pulling it to the rear.
    2. 14.2 Unscrew fastening nut -3-  and remove ground line from the ground point.
15. Unclip main wire harness in passenger compartment at the left from the holders.
16. Press grommets on the sub-parts into the passenger compartment and guide all sub-parts carefully into the passenger compartment.
