Remove Crankshaft

Information 

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.

  1. Remove oil pump chain drive.

    Oil pump chain drive

    1. 1.1  Remove chain for oil pump drive -1-  from the crankshaft sprocket -2-  .
    2. 1.2  Remove screws on guide rail -3 and 4-  .
    3. 1.3  Remove guide rail.
  2. Lock balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  .

    1. 2.1  > T40362 - Locking tool  must be inserted as far as the anchor block into the cut-out on the balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  and turn it 180° clockwise to lock the backlash compensation.
  3. Loosen bearing covers on crankshaft.
    1. 3.1  Mark position of bearing covers.
    2. 3.2  Unscrew screws -1 to 9-  .

  4. Removing bearing cover -2-  .
    1. 4.1  Insert > T40332 - puller  as far as required so that the recesses are -5-  still just visible.
    2. 4.2  Screw in grub screws -3-  .
    3. 4.3  Remove bearing cover -2-  using > T40332 - puller-2-  and > T10055 - puller  .

    Using special tool T40332

    1  > T40332 - Puller 
    2  Crankshaft bearing covers
    3  Grub screws - for securing the puller on the bearing cover
    4  Threaded bores - for holding the grub screws
    5  Recesses - identifying feature for the installation depth of the puller on the V6 engine
  5. Remove crankshaft.
    1. 5.1  Remove crankshaft with the help of another person and set it down on a clean surface.
    2. 5.2  Remove bearing shells and place them with the relevant bearing covers.
