Automatic transmission with counter-hold tool T40344

1. 1.1  Position automatic transmission -1-  with > VAS 6100 - workshop crane  and > T40344 - counter-hold tool-4-  on engine.
2. 1.2  Place new automatic transmission bolts on engine -2 and 3-  and tighten.

   Screws -2- M12x 100 and M12 x 125:  > Initial tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) 

   > Final tightening torque angle 90 Grad 

   Screws -3- M10 x 60 and M10 x 95:  : > Initial tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ftlb.) 

   > Final tightening torque angle 90 Grad 

3. 1.3  Remove > T40344 - counter-hold tool-4-  using a > VAS 6100 - workshop crane  from automatic transmission

Cover for starter opening

1. 2.1  Position seal -3-  .
2. 2.2  Position lid -1-  .
3. 2.3 Depending on type:  Screw in screw -2-  and use a commercially available 3/8-inch flexible-head socket a/f 16s ¹⁾  tighten.

   M10 x 50 screw  > Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.) 

   M10 x 25 screw  > Tightening torque 20 Nm (14.75 ftlb.) 

¹⁾ Tool recommendation: Hazet 880G-Z16

• Observe mounting specification for torque converter threaded joint! 

Information 

For loosening/tightening the screws on the drive plate, always counter at the central screw on the vibration damper. The help of another person is required.

Drive plate screws

1. 3.1  Screw in and tighten one drive plate screw -1-  .

   > Tightening torque 60 Nm (44 ftlb.) 

2. 3.2  Turn the engine further and repeat the procedure on all drive plate screws -1-  .
3. 3.3  Fit cap -2-  .

ATF lines

1. 4.1  Move ATF lines -1 and 2-  into installation position and tighten screw -3-  .

   > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

Coolant line

1. 5.1  Push coolant hose -2-  onto coolant pipe -3-  .
2. 5.2  Fit spring band clamp -1-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  .

Additional coolant pump at the left

1. 6.1  Move additional coolant pump -1-  into installation position.
2. 6.2  Tighten screws on additional coolant pump holder -3-  .

   > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.6 ftlb.) 

3. 6.3  Connect and lock electric plug connection -2-  .
4. 6.4  Push coolant hose -5-  onto coolant pipe -6-  and fit spring band clamp -4-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers  .

Heat shield on additional coolant pump at the left

1. 7.1  Move heat shield for additional coolant pump at the left -1-  into installation position and tighten screws -2-  .

   > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

Additional coolant pump at the right

1. 8.1  Push coolant hose -1-  onto additional coolant pump at the right -3-  .
2. 8.2  Fit spring band clamp -2-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  .
