Coding Front Roof Console

If the fault memories of individual control units (e.g. fault memories of the control units for front-end electronics, rear-end electronics, etc.) cannot be erased, proceed as follows:

If control units are found to have faults, which cannot be erased and are not caused by replacing the front roof trim panel, these faults must be found and corrected.

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.

Select the vehicle type if required.

Select the Rear-end electronics  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.

Coding/programming  must be selected.

Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.

The Tester displays the message Coding successful.

Read out the fault memory.  Clear it if necessary.

Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
