- Get one or more people to help when installing/removing heavy or difficult-to-reach components.
- This will prevent or reduce the risk of possible damage.

Check that the heat shield is fitted correctly -1- on the transfer gear wiring harness.
The rubber stop must be flush with the surface of the transfer gear -3- .
Bend the bent shield back into its correct position.

- Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
- 1.1 Fit and secure the transfer gear with the help of another person.

There are different types of grease for the splines on the transfer gear.
These must not be mixed, so it is absolutely essential to clean any remaining grease off completely.
- 1.2 Grease the splines of the drive shaft of the transfer gear and splines of the transmission output shaft.
- 1.3 Slide the transfer gear fully onto the transmission and at the same time, guide the splines of the drive shaft/transfer gear and output shaft/transmission together so that they are centred. If the splines are positioned correctly, the transfer gear will slide as far as it can go against the transmission.
- 1.4 New screws securing transfer gear to transmission:
> Initial tightening 15 Nm (11.1 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque angle 180°
- 1.1 Fit and secure the transfer gear with the help of another person.
