Installing Sealing Ring On Flanged Shaft

Information
- Push sealing ring onto the > T10139 - thrust piece so that the open side is facing the tool.
- Install sealing ring on flanged shaft.
- 1.1 Coat the external circumference and sealing lip of the sealing ring on the flanged shaft with a light coating of ATF.
- 1.2 Tap new sealing ring on flanged shaft in as far as it will go using > T10139 - thrust piece .
Information
- The adjusting shim is calibrated and must not be replaced with a shim of a different thickness.
- Insert outer ring for taper roller bearing -1-
and adjusting shim -2-
into the transmission housing by hand.

- Insert transfer box -1-
into the housing.

- V6:
Install differential cover -12- .

- 4.1 Replace differential cover O-ring.
- 4.2 Screw in and tighten screws in the sequence -1 to 8-
.
> Tightening torque 35 Nm (25.8 ftlb.)
- 4.3 Screw in and tighten screws in the sequence -9 to 11-
.
> Tightening torque 47 Nm (34.66 ftlb.)
- V8:
Install differential cover -1- .

- 5.1 Replace differential cover O-ring.
- 5.2 Place screws -2- in diagonally opposite sequence.
- 5.3 Tighten screws -2-
in diagonally opposite sequence.
> Tightening torque 35 Nm (25.8 ftlb.)
- Install end plate on flanged shaft -1-
.
Left flanged shaft
- 6.1 Fit flanged shaft together with end plate for flanged shaft -1- into the transmission housing, making sure not to damage the sealing ring on the flanged shaft.
- 6.2 Fit new screws -2- .
- 6.3 Screw in and tighten screws -2-
.
> Initial tightening 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque angle 60°
