Removing Tie-Rod Ball

- To make it easier to remove the tie-rod ball, swivel the relevant wheel bearing housing so that the tie rod is fully extended.
- Remove air guide for brake disc -1-

Air-guide element on tie rod
- 2.1 Cut tie-wrap -2- .
- 2.2 Remove air guide for brake disc -1- .
- Remove tie-rod ball -1-
at the wheel bearing housing.
- 3.1 Unscrew nut -2-
on joint pin for the tie-rod ball until it is flush with the upper edge of the joint pin.

- 3.2 Press off joint pin for tie-rod ball using > T40010A - ball joint puller

- 3.3 Unscrew nut from joint pin for the tie-rod ball.
Information
Mark the position of the tie-rod ball on the thread before unscrewing it from the tie rod.
Count the number of turns when unscrewing it (turns of tie-rod ball).
This avoids the need to perform an approximate adjustment of the steering trapeze during reassembly.
This does not replace suspension alignment.
- 3.1 Unscrew nut -2-
on joint pin for the tie-rod ball until it is flush with the upper edge of the joint pin.
- Remove tie-rod ball -1-
from tie rod.

- 4.1 Counter tie-rod ball -1- at the flattened areas -Arrows- using a suitable open-ended wrench.
- 4.2 Unscrew lock nut -2- .
