Removing Bellows For Steering-Gear Housing Warning Caution

CAUTION:
Electrically moved components
- Danger of limbs being trapped
- → Switch off electric power to drive motor.
- → Make sure it does not switch on again.
- → Check that there is no electric charge.
Information
The PDCC system can be active when the ignition is switched on (even when the vehicle is stationary). To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arm and bellows of the steering gear when the ignition is switched off and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.
- Unscrew lock nut for tie-rod ball from the tie rod.
- Loosen spring band clamp -Arrow-
on the steering-gear housing bellows using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers

- Open inner clamp -1-
on the steering-gear housing bellows using suitable pliers.

together with the two clamps off the tie rod -2-
