Removing Steering Wheel

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Position wheels straight on.

    Information 

    • Always release and disconnect the plug connections for the steering wheel heating and airbag cables before removing the steering wheel. 
  2. Disconnect electric plug connections at the steering wheel.

    Steering wheel plug connections

    1. 2.1 Release and disconnect plug connection for airbag wire harness -1-  .
    2. 2.2 If the vehicle has a steering wheel heater:  Release and disconnect plug connection for steering wheel heater -2-  .

    Information 

    Immediately after unscrewing the screw and before  removing the steering wheel, always mark the position of the steering wheel between the steering wheel and steering column -2-  .

    Marking

    This ensures that the steering wheel will be fitted at the same position on the steering column again during reinstallation.

  3. Unscrew screw -1-  using > Nr.32 - multiple-tooth socket-wrench insert  and mark the position of the steering wheel.

    Multiple-tooth screw

    1. 3.1 Replace multiple-tooth screw.
  4. Remove steering wheel.
