Removing Shock Absorber Fork

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Slightly raise the wheel bearing housing using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack ). This enables the threaded connections to be disconnected more easily.
Dismantle threaded joints for shock absorber fork -1- .

Mounting for shock absorber fork
1. 2.1 Remove threaded joint -2- securing connecting link to shock absorber fork.
2. 2.2 Remove threaded joint -3- securing shock absorber fork to lower trailing arm (turn steering in fully in order to remove screw).
3. 2.3 Remove threaded joint -4- securing shock absorber fork to air-spring strut.
Open up clamped connection for shock absorber fork.

Spreader 3424
1. 3.1 Insert > 3424 - spreader-1- in the slot -2- on the shock absorber fork.
2. 3.2 Turn > 3424 - spreader-1- through 90 degrees.
Remove upper trailing arm -1- from wheel bearing housing.

Mounting for upper trailing arm
1. 4.1 Remove threaded joint -2- .
2. 4.2 Pull pins on the trailing arms up and out.
Lower the lifting equipment as far as required until the spring strut fork can be removed by pulling it downwards.
