Disassembling Front Drive Shaft

WARNING: Danger of objects or loads falling down 
  • Risk of squashing or crushing 
    • → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
  1. Clamp drive shaft in the vice (use aluminum protective lows!).
  2. Remove hose clamp -1-  on the bellows on the wheel side and transmission side using a suitable tool.

  3. Pull housing of joint on the transmission side -1-  off the bellows -2-  .

  4. Remove outer circlip -1-  using suitable pliers.

  5. Remove remaining grease from joint on the transmission side and drive shaft.

    Information 

    Do not position brass mandrel on the 3 rollers of the joint!

  6. Remove the joint at the transmission side from the drive shaft using a brass mandrel by tapping it with a hammer all the way around.
  7. Pull both bellows off the drive shaft.
  8. Remove the joint at the wheel side using a brass mandrel by tapping hard with a hammer all the way around (position brass mandrel on the ball hub of the joint pin (star-shaped inner ring) -Arrow-  ).
