Install Lower Trailing Arm

Information
The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is almost identical.
- Loosen front angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment (HBA) -1-
from trailing arm.

- 1.1 Unscrew fastening nut -3- and remove connecting link from trailing arm.

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
- Remove lower trailing arm -1-
.
- 2.1 Protect rubber boot on tie rod from damage using fabric tape.
- 2.2 Lift the wheel bearing housing slightly using > VAS 6931 - transmission and gearbox jack .
- 2.3 Unscrew screw securing trailing arm to front-axle carrier -2-
and counter at the nut -3-
at the same time.
Get another person to turn in the steering so that the screw -2- can be removed. Make sure that the rubber boot on the tie rod is not damaged while doing this.
Replace screw and nut.
- 2.4 Remove > VAS 6931 - Transmission and gearbox jack .
- 2.5 Unscrew screw securing trailing arm to spring strut fork -4-
and counter at the nut -5-
at the same time.
Replace screw and nut.
- 2.6 Tilt lower trailing arm such that the nut -6- on the joint pin is accessible.
- 2.7 Loosen nut -6- , press off lower trailing arm -1- from joint pin using > T40010A - ball joint puller and unscrew nut -6- .
- 2.8 Remove lower trailing arm -1- .
- 2.9 Replace screws -2 and 4- and nuts -3, 5 and 6- .
