Adjust Front Axle Toe
- Remove brake air spoiler -1-
.

- 1.1 Cut tie-wrap -2- and pull brake air spoiler -1- off the tie-rod ball.
Information
Steering wheel alignment gauge (example)
- For fast and reliable steering wheel alignment in centre position, use a > VAS 6826 - Steering wheel balance (with integrated angle measurement box).
- Fix the steering wheel -A-
in the centre position with the steering wheel lock. Use only steering-wheel holders that do not project into the area of the airbag unit -B-
. Shorten the guide rod of the steering-wheel holder at the top if necessary -Arrow-
.

CAUTION: Electrically moved components- Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.
→ Make sure it does not switch on again.
→ Check that there is no electric charge.
Information
The PDCC system can be active when the ignition is switched on (even when the vehicle is stationary). To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arm and bellows of the steering gear when the ignition is switched off and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

while doing this.
Information
Make sure that the bellows are not twisted after turning the tie rods!

- 4.1 Push brake air spoiler -1- onto the tie-rod ball and fit new tie-wraps -2- in the brake air spoiler -1- .
- 4.2 Tighten tie-wrap -2- using > VAS 6927 - tie-wrap pliers .
Subsequent work
- Unexpected vehicle handling
- Steering-angle sensor does not function
- Malfunction in steering-angle sensor
→ After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor, and after changing the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using the PIWIS Tester .
→ Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
→ For vehicles with electromechanical steering, also re-teach the electric steering lock settings.
If the previous wheel alignment values (on rear and/or front axle) were changed, the following subsequent work must be performed:
- Calibrate steering-angle sensor for PSM.
- Teaching power steering gear.
- If installed: Calibrate distance measuring sensor control unit.
- If installed: Calibrate front camera.
- If installed: Calibrate infrared camera.
- Teach headlight beam adjustment.
- 6.1 Connect the PIWIS Tester to vehicle, turn on the Tester.
- 6.2 Switch on ignition.
- 6.3 Start diagnostics.
- 6.4 Select "front-end electronics" control unit.
- 6.5 Select Maintenance/repairs tab.
- 6.6 Select menu item "Teach headlight beam adjustment" and press F12 to continue.
- 6.7 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
