Replacing PSM Control Unit
NOTIFICATION
Voltage drop
- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding is aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming
→ Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
→ Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Ensure the consistency of a combination of hardware and software versions
After performing software updates, always make sure that the target software versions are also actually installed on the control units and that the system is therefore ensured.
This also applies in the case of hardware replacement.

The PIWIS Tester instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if necessary.
- In the Overview, select the control unit Brake electronics (PSM incl. parking brake). Press F12 to continue. Is a "Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)" to be created? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Coding/programming.
- Select Automatic coding.

to continue.
- 5.1 The tester displays the message: Coding successfully performed.
- Select Maintenance/repairs.
- Select parking brake commissioning.
Press F12
to continue.
- 7.1 Commissioning must be selected.
- 7.2 Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
- 7.3 Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
- Read out all fault memories and erase them if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
