Removing Hydraulic Unit

Always switch off the ignition when working on the hydraulic unit!

  1. Remove brake lines -1-  .

    Brake lines on hydraulic unit

    1. 1.1  Open brake line holder -2-  and remove it.
    2. 1.2  Mark three brake lines -1-  to prevent them from being confused.
    3. 1.3  Loosen union nuts on the brake lines -3-  and counter at the hydraulic unit at the same time.
    4. 1.4  Pull brake lines -2-  out of the bores and close off brake lines -2-  and bores immediately using suitable stoppers. Soak up any emerging brake fluid using suitable aids.
    5. 1.5  Carefully move the brake lines -1-  aside and secure them if necessary.
  2. Only for PHEV vehicles: Release return line -1-  .

    Return line (PHEV only)

    1. 2.1  Unscrew banjo bolt for the return line -2-  , countering on the hydraulic unit.
    2. 2.2  Pull return line -1-  out of the bore and close off return line -1-  and bore immediately using suitable stoppers. Soak up any emerging brake fluid using suitable aids.
    3. 2.3  Carefully move the return line -1-  aside and secure it if necessary.
  3. Disconnect supply lines

    Supply lines on hydraulic unit

    1. 3.1  Mark one supply line -1-  to prevent it from being connected incorrectly.
    2. 3.2  Loosen union nuts on the supply lines -2-  and counter at the hydraulic unit at the same time.
    3. 3.3  Pull supply lines -1-  out of the bores and close off supply lines -1-  and bores immediately using suitable stoppers. Soak up any emerging brake fluid using suitable aids.
    4. 3.4  Carefully move supply lines -1-  aside and secure them if necessary.
  4. Remove hydraulic unit -4-  .

    Hydraulic unit

    1. 4.1  Release and disconnect electric plug connection.
      1. 4.1.1  Press clip -1-  downwards.
      2. 4.1.2  Push lever -2-  upwards -Arrow-  .
      3. 4.1.3  Disconnect electric plug connection from hydraulic unit -4-  .
    2. 4.2  Pull hydraulic unit -4-  up out of the rubber mountings and guide it out of the engine compartment.
