Removing Brake Shoes

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components
  • Risk of injury (e.g. crushing or bruising) when removing and installing springs.

    → Do not reach into the danger area.

    → Relieve the tension on components before starting work.

    → Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

    → Wear protective gloves and goggles.

    → Be very careful when working on the brake system.

  1. Relieve tension on adjustment device -2-  .

    Brake shoes

    1. 1.1  Turn splines of the adjustment device -2-  using a screwdriver until the adjustment device is no longer tensioned.
  2. Remove adjustment device -2-  .

    Brake shoes

    1. 2.1  Disengage spring -6-  from brake shoes -1-  and remove it.
    2. 2.2  Remove adjustment device -2-  from brake shoes -1-  .
  3. Remove retaining pins -3-  .

    Brake shoes

    1. 3.1  Press retaining pins -3-  in slightly against the spring tension using a screwdriver and turn them 90° to release the retaining pins -3-  .
    2. 3.2  Remove retaining pins -3-  and springs -4-  .
  4. Remove brake shoes -1-  .

    Brake shoes

    1. 4.1  Disengage spring -5-  from brake shoes -1-  and remove it.
    2. 4.2  Remove brake shoes -1-  .
  5. Secure spreader device with a tie-wrap. > Spreader device
