Removing Power-Steering Gear: Notes

CAUTION:
Electrically moved components
- Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.
→ Make sure it does not switch on again.
→ Check that there is no electric charge.
Information
The PDCC system can be active when the ignition is switched on (even when the vehicle is stationary). To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arm and bellows of the steering gear when the ignition is switched off and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

- Loosen universal joint for steering column -1-

Universal joint for steering column
- 1.1 Unscrew screw -2- .
- 1.2 Disconnect universal joint for steering column -1- from the power-steering gear.
- Disconnect electric wire harness for steering gear -1-

Electric plug connections for power-steering gear
- 2.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections for the steering gear -2 and 3- .
- 2.2 Unclip line clip -2 and 3- .
- 2.3 Set electric wire harness for steering gear -1- aside.
- Remove power-steering gear -1-

Power-steering gear
- 3.1 Support the power-steering gear -1- using > VAS 6931 - transmission and engine jack .
- 3.2 Unscrew screws on power-steering gear -2- .
- 3.3 Guide power-steering gear -1- down out of the front axle using transmission jack -Arrow- and remove it.
