Removing Lower Steering Column

Information 

• Do not support the lower steering column at the universal joint or sealing bellows. 
• Also do not hold at the universal joint or sealing bellows when guiding in and out. 

1. Loosen universal joint -1-  for steering column at the power-steering gear.

   Universal joint for power-steering gear/lower steering column

   1. 1.1  Unscrew screw -2-  .
   2. 1.2  Pull universal joint for steering column off the power-steering gear splines.
   3. 1.3  Replace screw and clean thread on the universal joint.
2. Loosen universal joint -1-  at the steering column center.

   Universal joint for steering column center

   1. 2.1  Unscrew screw -2-  on steering column center.
   2. 2.2  Pull universal joint -1-  for lower steering column off the steering column center splines.
   3. 2.3  Replace screw -2-  and clean thread on universal joint.
3. Loosen sealing bellows -1-  at the body.

   Sealing bellows for lower steering column (LHD vehicle)

   1. 3.1  Unscrew screw -2-  (LHD vehicles only).
   2. 3.2  Unscrew nuts -3-  .
4. Remove lower steering column via the driver's footwell.

Do not pull out the steering column at the upper universal joint or sealing bellows!
