Charging A Lithium-Ion Battery

NOTIFICATION
Do not connect charging cables/jump leads directly to the vehicle battery.
- → Always connect charging cables/jump leads to the external power supply for jump-lead starting.
Information
- When working or carrying out tests on the vehicle or when the vehicle is in the workshop, a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A must be connected.
- As soon as the vehicle is unlocked, e.g. the vehicle is in the workshop or salesroom, it must be trickle-charged using a battery charger.
Information
The lithium-ion battery must be charged with a charge voltage of 14.4 volts.
Before charging the battery, check setting parameters of the charger and change them if necessary. Follow the operating instructions for the charger to do this.
- Connect battery charger with at least > current 90 A to vehicle battery.
Charge lithium-ion battery until the charging current is < 5 A.
Use > VAS 5908 - battery charger 90 A .
- Open protective cover on the positive terminal for jump-lead starting.
- First, connect the positive cable from the charger to the positive terminal.
- Connect the negative cable from the charger to the ground point for jump-lead starting.
- Read operating instructions for the charger.
- Switch off all electrical loads.
- Switch on the charger.
