Installing Rear Axle
- Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
- 1.1 Replace screws securing rear axle housing to the body.

Tighten screws securing rear axle housing to the body.
> Initial tightening 130 Nm (96 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 180°
- 1.3
Tighten front screws securing strut to the body.
> Tightening torque 49 Nm (36.1 ftlb.)
- 1.4
Tighten screws securing shock absorber to the body.
> Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 90°
- 1.5
Tighten rear screw securing strut to the body.
> Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 45 (33 ftlb.) °
- 1.6
Tighten screw securing left strut to right strut.
> Tightening torque 25 Nm (18.5 ftlb.) (18.4 ftlb.)
- 1.7
Tighten nuts on stone guard for valve unit.
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 1.8
Tighten nut on ground line for PDCC anti-roll bar.
> Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 ftlb.)
SUBSEQUENT WORK
- Connect electric plug connection for air spring bellows and screw in screws on air spring bellows.
- 1.1
Tighten screws on air spring bellows to > Tightening torque 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
Information
- The air bellows may only be filled if it was already positioned correctly in the trailing arm (to do this, lift lower trailing arm using > VAS 6931 - transmission and aggregate jack if necessary).

Tighten screws on air spring bellows to > Tightening torque 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
- Fill the relevant air spring bellows.
- Install cover for center underbody.
> Removing and installing cover for center underbody
- Visually inspect the rear air spring bellows.
Rolling creases in the protective boot must be removed correctly (no kinks)!
- Install rear brake callipers -1-

Rear brake calliper
- 5.1 Detach rear brake callipers -1- .
- 5.2 Position rear brake callipers -1- .
- 5.3 Replace screws on brake calliper -2- .
- 5.4 Connect electric plug connection for wear indicator -3- until it engages with an audible click.
- 5.5 Screw in and tighten brake calliper screws -2-
.
> Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) and > Final tightening + 75°
- Install the cardan shaft.
> Removing and installing cardan shaft
- Install exhaust system.
> Removing and installing exhaust system
- Perform start-up procedure for 48 V vehicle electrical system.

- Perform suspension alignment.
- Calibrate steering-angle sensor.
