Removing Ignition Coils For Cylinders 5 To 8

Information 

Poorly accessible electrical connectors (e.g. on fuel injectors) can be released with the > 3438 - hook  .

-I.-  Pull out the fuse -1-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow A-  .

-II.-  Actuate the locking mechanism -3-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow B-  and pull off electrical connector -4-  at the same time -Arrow C-  .

Using special tool VAG 3438

1. Remove vent lines -1 and 2-  .

   Vent lines

   1. 1.1  Release and disconnect line connections -3-  .
   2. 1.2  Remove vent lines -1 and 2-  .
2. Unclip upper part of cable duct -1-  and loosen tie-wrap -2-  .

3. Detach cable duct -1-  .

   Cable duct 5-8

   1. 3.1  Unscrew nuts -2-  .
   2. 3.2  Release and disconnect electric plug connections for solenoid hydraulic valve for valve lift control -3-  .
   3. 3.3  Release and disconnect electric plug connections for ignition coil -4-  .
   4. 3.4  Release and disconnect electric plug connections for injector valves -5-  with > 3438 - hooks  .
   5. 3.5  Release and disconnect electric plug connection for fuel pressure sensor -6-  .
   6. 3.6  Lift cable duct -6-  as far as necessary -Arrow-  for the ignition coils to be accessible.
4. Remove ignition coils for cylinders 5 to 8 -2-  .

   1. 4.1  Unscrew screws on ignition coils -1-  .
   2. 4.2  Pull off ignition coils -2-  .
