Preliminary Work

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 
    1. → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
    2. → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
    3. → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
    4. → Contain leaked media a using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
    5. → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
WARNING: Caustic fluids 
  • Danger of chemical burns 
    1. → Wear personal protective gear.
    2. → Ensure that there is good ventilation.
    3. → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
    4. → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information 

The battery voltage must not fall below 12.5  volts during the fuel pressure check.

  1. Remove engine cover (design cover).

  2. Connect a battery charger.

  3. Attach or mount a warning sign > Example of a warning sign  in a clearly visible position on the vehicle.

  4. Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
    1. 4.1  Remove the cover from the fuse carrier in the front left footwell.
    2. 4.2  Remove fuse -1-  for the fuel pump row A, fuse 16. 
    3. 4.3  Start the engine, wait until it stops and then re-insert fuse -1-  .

  5. Have a clean canister  that is suitable for fuel and a measuring cup  ready.
  6. Connect > 9705 - test adapter-1 -  .

    Fuel test adapter (shown on Porsche Panamera)

    1. 6.1  Place a cloth underneath the connection point for the fuel low-pressure line -2-  .
    2. 6.2  Release and disconnect plug-in coupling for the fuel low-pressure line. Catch emerging fuel.
    3. 6.3  Connect > 9705 - test adapter -1-  .
    4. 6.4  Position canister and secure it to prevent it from falling over.
    5. 6.5  Insert hose -3-  into the canister.
