Measurement 5

WARNING: Incorrect handling of high-voltage components 
  • Electric shock 
  • Short circuit 
  • Fire 
  • Explosion 

    → Only appropriately trained and authorized persons are permitted to work on high-voltage vehicles and components.

    → Required qualification: High voltage technician or high voltage expert.

    → Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.

    → Always use insulated tools, e.g. > VAS 6883 - Insulated Tool Set  when working on these components.

    → Observe general warning notes for working on the high-voltage system.

Preliminary work for measurement 5 

(Power electronics, electric motor, E-box and related wire harnesses)

Remove cover for center underbody at the left.

Refer to the appropriate service information.

Remove protective plate on power electronics.

Release and disconnect high-voltage line (power electronics - electric A/C compressor) at the power electronics.

Power electronics

Connect high-voltage test adapter > VAS 6558/9-6 - High-voltage test adapter HVA 280  to the power electronics connection for the electric air-conditioning compressor. Leave the second connection open.

Measurement 5

Perform measurement 5.

Setpoint value > 550 MOhm 

Evaluate measured result. 

If the measured value is within  the tolerance range, continue with measurement 9 

If the measured value is outside  of the tolerance range, continue with measurement 6
