Replacing Front Wheel Bearing: Notes

- Unscrew fastening screws -Arrows-
on the wheel bearing unit.

Information
Wheel bearing unit
- The wheel bearing has a magnetised multipole seal, which acts as a pulse sender for the wheel speed sensor.
- The multipole seal -1- must always face upwards when the wheel bearing is set down (this does not apply when pressing the wheel hub into the wheel bearing). Do not damage the multipole seal and do not let it come into contact with magnetic objects (e.g. magnetised screwdriver or magnet).
- Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.
- Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.

1 Plunger 2 Sleeve T10230/3 from > T10230 - assembly tool 3 Pressure piece T10230/8 from > T10230 - assembly tool 4 Wheel bearing unit 5 > VW402 - Pressure plate 6 > VW401 - Pressure plate - 3.1 Fit special tools as shown in > Wheel hub out of wheel bearing.
- 3.2 Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.
- Press inner bearing ring off the wheel hub.

> VAS 251 413 - Separating device
must be inserted between the inner bearing ring -1-
and wheel hub -2-
. Then pretension with the spindle.

Fit special tools as shown in > Inner bearing ring from wheel hub.

. Then pretension with the spindle.
