Installing Brake Booster

Information 

Fit the vacuum line before connecting the brake booster and brake pedal.

Information 

The brake booster must not be handled in the input rod/bellows area.

Information 

Always replace brake boosters on which the push rod has pushed past the brake pedal clip and the screws have been tightened to their final tightening torque.

Information 

The stoppers must not be removed until immediately before guiding on the brake pressure lines.

Information 

Make sure not to get the brake lines mixed up.

1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:

1. 1.1  Tighten screws securing brake booster to the body.

> Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

1. Install brake booster -2-  . Get another person to help!

   Screws on brake booster

   1. 1.1  Position brake booster -2-  and fit screws -1-  .
   2. 1.2  Tighten screws on brake booster -1-  .

      > Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.) 

2. Fit brake lines -1 and 2-  on brake master cylinder.

   1. 2.1  Fit and tighten union nuts on brake lines -3 and 4-  .

      > Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 ftlb.) 

3. Connect and lock electric plug connection for control unit for brake booster -1-  at the brake booster -2-  .

4. Fit electric plug connection for control unit for brake booster -1-  and return line connection -2-  .

   1. 4.1  Connect and lock electric plug connection for control unit for brake booster -1-  on the brake booster -3-  .
   2. 4.2  Connect and lock return line connection -2-  at the brake fluid reservoir -4-  .
5. Connect and lock electric plug connection for control unit for brake booster -1-  on the brake booster -2-  .

6. Secure brake booster push rod -1-  to the brake pedal -2-  .

1. 6.1  Position brake booster push rod -1-  at the retaining lugs -3-  of the ball joint mounting.
2. 6.2  Press brake pedal -2-  in direction of -arrow A-  until the brake booster push rod -1-  engages securely in the retaining lugs -3-  .
