Subsequent Work

WARNING:
Steering-angle sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly
- Unexpected vehicle handling
- Steering-angle sensor does not function
- Malfunction in steering-angle sensor
- After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor, and after changing the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using the PIWIS Tester .
- Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
- For vehicles with electromechanical steering, also re-teach the electric steering lock settings.
If the previous wheel alignment values (on rear and/or front axle) were changed, the following subsequent work must be performed:
- Calibrate steering-angle sensor for PSM.
- Teaching power steering gear.
- If installed: Calibrate distance measuring sensor control unit.
- If installed: Calibrate front camera.
- If installed: Calibrate infrared camera.
- Teach headlight beam adjustment.
- 6.1 Connect the PIWIS Tester to vehicle, turn on the Tester.
- 6.2 Switch on ignition.
- 6.3 Start diagnostics.
- 6.4 Select "front-end electronics" control unit.
- 6.5 Select Maintenance/repairs tab.
- 6.6 Select menu item "Teach headlight beam adjustment" and press F12 to continue.
- 6.7 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
