Information
- Engine oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
- Oil is diluted.
- Oil pump is faulty.
- Too much bearing clearance.
- Oil level is too low.
- Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty.
- Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement.
Information
Test conditions for checking engine oil pressure
- Correct engine-oil level
- Engine oil temperature approx. 80°C
- Engine oil pressure only variable at a mileage of 1, 000 km (621 mls) or higher. When the mileage is less than 1, 000 km (621 mls), the oil pump always delivers the maximum possible engine oil pressure (optimised running-in behaviour).
- > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester with adapter must be screwed into the bore on the oil-pressure sender. > Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 45°
