Checking Engine Oil Pressure

  • Danger of poisoning or suffocation

    → Ventilate the work area well.

    → Never ingest or inhale.

    → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

WARNING: Hot fluid 
  • Danger of scalding 

    → Let the fluid cool down.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 

    → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

    → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.

    → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

    Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

    → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

Test conditions for checking engine oil pressure 

  1. > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester  with adapter must be screwed into the bore on the oil-pressure sender. > Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 45° 
  2. Screw oil-pressure sender into > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester  and connect electric plug connection on oil-pressure sender.
  3. Connect electric wire harness for the oil pressure tester.
  4. Start the engine.
  5. Check engine oil pressure.
    • Engine oil pressure at idle speed: > Overpressure 1.5 bar 
    • Engine oil pressure at 1, 500 rpm: > Overpressure 1.9 bar 
  6. Release and unplug electric plug connection on the oil-pressure sender and unscrew oil-pressure sender from the > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester  .
  7. Loosen adapter and remove > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester  .
