Removing Headliner

Information 

Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

Information 

• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle or a similar component. 
• Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. 

1. Open covers -1-  and unscrew screws -2-  .

2. Unclip headliner.

   1. 2.1  Insert > VAS 6427 - release pliers -3-  into the openings -2-  on the clip. This actuates the tabs -1-  on the clip and moves them inwards.
3. Unclip electric lines -1-  from brackets -Arrows-  .

4. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  from the headliner -2-  .

5. Move front seats all the way forward and down and move backrests back fully.
6. Fold over rear seat.

   Information 

   When removing the headliner, make sure to use a suitable tool as a support when unclipping it in the panoramic roof area.

7. For vehicles with panoramic roof (3FU) 

   Unclip headliner -1-  from retaining clips -2-  in the panoramic roof aperture area.

8. Press clip -1-  together using two screwdrivers -Arrows-  and detach rear headliner from the body.

   Information 

   Three people are needed in order to remove the headliner.

   • Position of 1st person: Driver's side. 
   • Position of 2nd person: Passenger's side. 
   • Position of 3rd person: Luggage compartment. 
9. Remove headliner -1-

   1. 9.1  Lower the headliner -1-  on the passenger's side as far as possible.
   2. 9.2  Pull the headliner -1-  out towards the rear through the cut-out in the tailgate.
