Adjusting Rear Lid At The Top

Make sure that the headliner does not buckle.

Information

Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.

Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly.
Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
You can use > VAS 6936 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6938 - Adjusting gauge for this.
The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.

Adjust the height.

Screws on rear lid
1. 1.1 Loosen nuts securing rear lid hinge -2- to rear lid -1- on both sides so that the rear lid -1- can still be moved on the rear lid hinge.
2. 1.2 Adjust the height of the rear lid -1- by moving the rear lid -1- and ensure that the gap between the rear lid -1- and roof is parallel.

  > Gap dimension 5.5 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm > Gap dimension - 1.2 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm
3. 1.3 Tighten nuts on rear lid hinge -2- to > Tightening torque 12 (9 ftlb.) Nm .
Adjust gap dimension of rear lid with respect to the roof.

Rear lid hinge
1. 2.1 Loosen nuts securing rear lid hinge -2- to the rear of the roof on both sides so that the rear lid hinges -1- can still be moved.
2. 2.2 Close the rear lid with your hand by applying slight pressure over the centre (handle area) and check the gap dimension.
3. 2.3 Adjust gap dimensions of the rear lid with respect to the roof by moving the rear lid.

  > Gap dimension 5.5 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm > Gap dimension - 1.2 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm
4. 2.4 Open the rear lid.
5. 2.5 Tighten nuts on rear lid hinge -2- to > Tightening torque 23 (17 ftlb.) Nm .
