Adjusting Rear Lid At The Bottom

  2. Loosen screws -1-  and push adjusting elements -2-  down as far as they will go.

    Adjusting elements

  3. Adjust the joint between the rear lid and side panel and rear apron.
    1. 3.1  Adjust the joint between the rear lid and rear apron by pushing the adjusting elements up or down.

    >5X00IN41 GAP DIMENSION

    > Gap dimension 3.5 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm  > Gap dimension 0.6 mm + 0.6 mm - 1.1 mm 

    > Gap dimension 4 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm 

    > Gap dimension 4 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm  > Gap dimension 0 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm 

    > Gap dimension 4 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm  > Gap dimension 0 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm 

    > Gap dimension 4 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm  > Gap dimension 0 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm 

    > Gap dimension 3.5 mm + 1 mm - 1 mm  > Gap dimension 0.2 mm + 0.8 mm - 0.8 mm 

  4. Tighten screws on adjusting elements

    > Tightening torque 6 (4.5 ftlb.) Nm

  6. Adjust lower part of rear lid lock -2-  .

    Lower part of rear lid lock

    1. 6.1  Insert lower part of rear lid lock -2-  and screw in screws -1-  so that the lower part of the rear lid lock -2-  can still be moved.
    2. 6.2  Close the rear lid with your hand by applying slight pressure over the centre (handle area) until the rear lid lock engages.
    3. 6.3  Open the rear lid.
    4. 6.4  Tighten screws on lower part of rear lid lock -1-  to > Tightening torque 21 (16 ftlb.) Nm  .
  7. Check adjustment at the top and bottom.

    Strip of paper on rear lid

    1. 7.1  Hold a strip of paper -1-  on the sealing surface.
    2. 7.2  Close the rear lid -2-  .
    3. 7.3  To check this, test-drive the vehicle on an uneven stretch of road (bad road surface) during approval.

      Information 

      • It should still be possible to pull the paper strip out when the rear lid is closed. If the paper strip can be pulled out easily or cannot be pulled out at all, correct the preload on the adjusting elements. 
    4. 7.4  Check adjustment by pulling out the strip of paper -1-  .
