Removing Rear Apron

Information 

• The number of screws, clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment. 
• The illustrations for removing and installing are shown only on one equipment variant and can differ from the actual equipment variant. 
• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. 

1. Unscrew screws -1-  from retaining frame.

2. Unscrew rear screws -1-  from rear apron -2-  .

3. Unscrew screws -1-  from heat shield -2-  .

   Information 

   Too much force can damage the component.

4. Remove trim panel for tail light -1-  .

   1. 4.1 Unclip locking lugs -2-  .
   2. 4.2 Unclip tail light trim panel -1-  by pulling it to the rear in direction of -Arrow-  and carefully disengage the locking lugs -3-  under the tail light.
   3. 4.3 Check locking lugs -2 and 3-  for damage and replace tail light trim panel -1-  if necessary.
5. Unscrew screw -1-  and remove tailgate stop -2-  .

6. Unscrew screw -1-  on frame for light.

7. Disconnect wire harness at the left -1-  .

   Left wire harness

   1. 7.1 Release and unplug electric plug connection -2-  .
   2. 7.2 Press grommet -3-  through the body.
   3. 7.3 Unclip wire harness at the left -1-  .
   4. 7.4 Guide wire harness at the left -1-  through to the rear apron.
8. Disconnect wire harness at the right -1-  .

   Right wire harness

   1. 8.1 Release and unplug electric plug connections -2-  .
   2. 8.2 Unclip wire harness at the right -1-  .
   3. 8.3 Press grommet -3-  through the body.
   4. 8.4 Guide wire harness at the right -1-  through to the rear apron.

   Information 

   The help of another person is required.

9. Unclip rear apron -1-  on both sides by pulling it outwards -arrow A-  and to the rear -arrow B-  .

10. Remove rear apron -1-  and place it in > VAS 6760 - storage system  .
