Preliminary Work

  1. Loosen ground strap for battery.

    >  WM, 978509 - LOOSENING AND SECURING GROUND STRAP FOR BATTERY 

  2. Remove the cover on lock carrier.

    >  WM, 703919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR FRONT LOCK SUPPORT 

  3. Vehicles without power unit guard  Loosen front cover in the area of the front bumper and air duct brake.

    >  WM, 519219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR FRONT UNDERBODY 

  4. Vehicles with power unit guard  Remove power unit guard.

    > Refer to appropriate Engine article 

  5. Remove wheel housing liner front in the front bumper area.

    >  WM, 505619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER 

  6. Only without Sport Design:  Remove front wheel covers.

    >  WM, 661919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT WHEEL COVER 

  7. Unscrew the fastening screws -1-  and remove the brake -2-  air duct.
