Preparing Glass Roof - Re-Used Glass Roof

Information 

A 1-2 mm surface coating of adhesive residue is required to help new adhesive to stick.

Keep cut surfaces clean and free of grease and do not clean with cleaning solution.

If there is no longer a surface coating of adhesive residue (e.g. during body repairs), the affected area must be cleaned and treated with primer before applying adhesive.

Adhesive must never be applied to an unprimed surface.

Likewise, primer must never be applied to the adhesive residue.

Activator must be applied to the bonding surface after leaving it for more than 2 hours.

Information 

Two people are required  on both sides of the vehicle in order to remove and fit the glass roof on the body.

There must  be four people  at the vehicle in order to remove and fit the glass roof.

1. When removing adhesive residue -1-  using the > V.A.G 1561B - electric cutter  and flashing knife, ensure that a surface coating of adhesive residue of > Height 1.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm  remains.

2. Fit glass roof and check that it fits perfectly.
   1. 2.1  With two people positioned at each side of the vehicle  , fit the glass roof in the roof aperture using suction cups and align it.
   2. 2.2  Fit and align the windscreen.

   3. 2.3  Make sure that the glass roof is positioned uniformly on the spacers.
   4. 2.4  Check gap dimension from glass roof to windscreen.

   5. 2.5  Remove glass roof with the help of two people on each side of the vehicle  using suction cups.
3. Only after leaving it for more than 2 hours: 

   Apply activator on the remaining adhesive residue

4. Push side seals -1-  in -direction of arrow-  onto the glass roof -2-  .
