Installing Carbon-Fibre Composite Roof

Information 

If roofs have only just been affixed, the doors must only be closed with the side windows lowered and the tailgate open until the adhesive has hardened.

The tailgate must only be closed when the side windows are lowered.

Always wait 4 hours after bonding the roof before driving the vehicle.

Information 

Before using the adhesive, apply a bead of adhesive approx. 30 mm long to a piece of cardboard to ensure that the substance is completely mixed.

Information 

The adhesive must be used within 10 minutes - from the time you open the adhesive until the roof is finally fitted.

Preparatory work must be done for each step.

Information 

Two people are required  on both sides of the vehicle in order to remove and fit the carbon-fibre composite roof on the body.

There must  be four people  at the vehicle in order to remove and fit the carbon-fibre composite roof.

1. Prepare adhesive for processing.

2. Apply adhesive to the carbon-fibre composite roof.

   Applying adhesive to carbon-fibre composite roof

   1. 2.1 Only after leaving it for more than 2 hours: 

      Apply activator on the remaining adhesive residue

   2. 2.2  Apply adhesive as a triangular bead on the carbon-fibre composite roof using > VAS 5237 - double cartridge gun  .

   Installing carbon-fibre composite roof

   1. 3.1  Hold the carbon-fibre composite roof -1-  with two people on each side of the vehicle  using suction cups and carefully position it on the vehicle.
   2. 3.2  Guide the pins -2-  of the carbon-fibre composite roof -1-  into the cut-outs -3-  on the bodyshell and carefully and slowly lower the carbon-fibre composite roof
   3. 3.3  Press the carbon-fibre composite roof -1-  on evenly as far as it will go.
   4. 3.4  Ballast the carbon-fibre composite roof -1-  uniformly at the edges with a weight of approx. 20 kg  .
4. Wait 4 hours for the adhesive to harden. 
5. Remove ballast.
6. Secure wire harness for roof -1-  .

   Wire harness for roof

   1. 6.1  Remove adhesive tape from roof wire harness -1-  and position the roof wire harness.
   2. 6.2  Clip in clips on wire harness for roof -2-  .
