Installing Rear Window

CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following boundary conditions must be adhered to: 
  • The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed. 
  • Curing time: 2 hours 
  • Temperature: at least 10°C 
  • Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

Adhesive life

CAUTION:
  • Apply adhesive and install the rear window within the standing time -10 min-  .
  • To ensure that the substance is completely mixed, apply a 30 mm long bead of fresh adhesive to a piece of cardboard before using it. 
  1. Prepare adhesive for processing.
    • > 6X00IN22 Working with Porsche 2-component window adhesive 

    "2-component window bonding agent"; see Porsche Spare Parts Catalogue, Information 8

    Information 

    • The adhesive bead must overlap by approx. 30 mm at the beginning and end. 
  2. Use > VAS 5237 - double cartridge gun  to apply a triangular bead of adhesive along the preliminary coat or on the primer on the rear window -1-  .
    • > Application depth 15 mm

    Applying adhesive

    Information 

    • The help of another person is required. 
  3. Insert rear window in rear lid.

    Rear window

    1. 3.1  Affix suction cup to the rear window.
    2. 3.2  Guide the rear window into the window aperture.
    3. 3.3  Position the rear window on the lower edge -arrows A-  and fit it -arrow B-  .
  4. Adjust gap dimension of rear window. > Gap dimension 4.3 mm +/- 0.8 mm  > Gap dimension 3.5 mm +/- 0.8 mm 
  5. Remove suction cups.
  6. Secure the rear window -1-  with adhesive tape -2-  to prevent it from slipping.

  7. Remove any adhesive that has oozed out immediately and clean the affected visible areas using cleaning agent.
