Checking Brake System After Bleeding

Information 

  1. Open and remove cap on brake fluid reservoir.

    Information 

    • Check brake fluid quality. Use only new Hydraulan 404 brake fluid. 
  2. Connect the bleeding device to the reservoir and switch it on.
  3. Set the bleeding pressure to 2.0 bar.

    Information 

    • To check the escaping brake fluid, ensure absolute cleanliness and make sure there are no air bubbles. 
    • A transparent hose and a collecting bottle must be used to determine the amount of brake fluid used. 
  4. Carry out the bleeding procedure on the brake callipers in the following sequence: rear right/rear left/front right/front left

    Bleeder screw (shown on rear right brake calliper)

    1. 4.1  Connect hose of the collecting bottle to the bleeder valve.
    2. 4.2  Open bleeder screw -1-  .

      Information 

      • After pressing the pedal down, the pedal must be held for 2-3 seconds and then slowly released. 
      • After the fifth time pressing the pedal, the brake pedal must be held down fully while closing the bleeder valve. 
    3. 4.3  Press the brake pedal fully 5 times and tap the brake calliper gently several times using a rubber hammer.
    4. 4.4  After bleeding the system, screw in bleeder screw -1-  and tighten to the specified tightening torque.

      Front bleeder valves (grey cast iron/PSCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.) 

      Front bleeder valves (PCCB): > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) 

      Rear bleeder valves (grey cast iron/PSCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.) 

      Rear bleeder valves (PCCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.) 

    5. 4.5  Continue the bleeding procedure in the specified sequence until all 4 brake callipers have been bled.
    6. 4.6  Remove collecting bottle and clean brake fluid residue off components if necessary using suitable cleaning aids.

    Information 

    The brake fluid level in the reservoir must be between the MIN and MAX markings after bleeding the brake system.

  5. Remove bleeding device from the reservoir and correct the brake fluid level if necessary.
  6. Fit and lock cap on brake fluid reservoir.
  7. Switch on ignition and check brake pedal travel and pedal feel.
