Removing Automatic Transmission

Risk of squashing or crushing
1. → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
Release and disconnect high-voltage plug connection at the air-conditioning compressor. > High-voltage electric plug connection

High-voltage electric plug connection
1. 2.1 Press red release tab -a- .
2. 2.2 Pull orange tab in direction of arrow until you feel resistance -Arrow A- .
3. 2.3 Release black tab -a- and disconnect connector -Arrow B- .
Unclip clip on high-voltage line for air-conditioning compressor -1- and move high-voltage line -2- aside.

Disconnect coolant hose -1- from additional coolant pump at the right.

1. 4.1 Loosen spring band clamp -2- using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers .
2. 4.2 Disconnect coolant hose -1- from additional coolant pump -3- .
3. 4.3 Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
Unscrew screws on heat shield -2- and remove heat shield -1-

1. 6.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection of additional coolant pump sensor -2- .
2. 6.2 Unscrew screws on additional coolant pump holder -3- .
3. 6.3 Loosen spring band clamp -4- using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers .
4. 6.4 Disconnect coolant hose -5- from coolant pipe -6- .
5. 6.5 Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
6. 6.6 Move additional coolant pump -1- aside.
Disconnect coolant line.

1. 7.1 Loosen spring band clamp -1- using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers .
2. 7.2 Disconnect coolant hose -2- from coolant pipe -3- .
3. 7.3 Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
Information

For loosening/tightening the screws on the drive plate, always counter at the central screw on the vibration damper. The help of another person is required.
Only if not done while removing engine:
Unscrew drive plate screws -1- .

1. 8.1 Remove cap -2- .
2. 8.2 Unscrew drive plate screw -1- .
3. 8.3 Turn the engine further and repeat the procedure on all drive plate screws.
ATF lines -1 and 2- on automatic transmission

1. 9.1 Unscrew screw on upper ATF lines -3- .
2. 9.2 Disconnect ATF lines -1 and 2- and seal openings with suitable plugs.

1. 10.1 Screw -2- with a commercially available 3/8-inch flexible-head socket a/f 16 ¹⁾ loosen and unscrew.
2. 10.2 Remove cover -1- and gasket -3- .
¹⁾ Tool recommendation: Hazet 880G-Z16

The help of a second mechanic is required for this.
Remove automatic transmission -1- .

Automatic transmission with counter-hold tool T40344
1. 11.1 Position > T40344 - counter-hold tool-4- using a > VAS 6100 - workshop crane on automatic transmission -1- and screw in screws -Arrow- .
2. 11.2 Unscrew screws -2 and 3- .
  Replace screws during installation.
3. 11.3 Guide automatic transmission -1- out and away from the engine.
