Bleeding The Brake System
Information
The pictures shown in this document may differ from the original.
Information
The instructions in the PIWIS Tester take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed. A discrepancy may arise with later software versions.
Information
- Observe the brake fluid quality. Only use new DOT4 brake fluid (Hydraulan 404).
- Brake fluid can be ordered using the Spare Parts Information (PET).
- There are two bleeder valves on the brake calliper. Brake fluid must be drained at both bleeder valves. Observe the sequence: Bleed the outer bleeder valve first.

- > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3 must now be connected.
- Open cap on brake fluid reservoir -1-
.
Adapter on reservoir
- Connect bleeding device adapter to reservoir -2-
.
Adapter on reservoir
- Switch on the bleeding device. Bleeding pressure is approx. 2.0 bar.
- Bleed the brake system.
Information
Use a transparent hose and a collecting bottle to check the escaping brake fluid for cleanliness, absence of air bubbles and to determine the amount of brake fluid used.
- 5.1 Fit collecting bottle hose to the bleeder valve.
- 5.2 Open bleeder valves on the brake callipers, starting at the front left brake calliper.
- 5.3 Open each bleeder valve until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
- 5.4 Repeat the procedure on all bleeder valves on the brake callipers one after the other. Observe the sequence specified in the PIWIS Tester.
(Front left/front right/rear right/rear left)
- Only when replacing the hydraulic unit:
Bleed the secondary circuit using the Porsche System Tester. To do this, select >> Porsche Stability Management >> Maintenance & repairs >> Service bleeding << in the control unit overview.
- Bleed the right-hand side of the vehicle manually again. Start at the front right wheel.
- Tighten bleeder valves to the specified tightening torque and remove bleeder hoses.
Front bleeder screw (grey cast iron/PSCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)
Rear bleeder screw (grey cast iron/PSCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)
Front bleeder screw (PCCB): > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
Rear bleeder screw (PCCB): > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)
Information
- The brake fluid level must not exceed the MAX marking.
- Check brake fluid quality. Use only new Hydraulan 404 brake fluid.
- Brake fluid can be ordered using the Porsche Electronic Parts Information (PET).
- Switch off the bleeding device and remove the adapter at the reservoir. The brake fluid level in the reservoir must be between the MIN and MAX markings after filling and bleeding the vehicle -1-
. Correct the brake fluid level if necessary.
