Replacing PVTS Control Unit (Vehicles With I-No. NZ3 (Emergency Call System Control Unit Era GLONASS))

Voltage drop
- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding is aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding
- Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
- Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
- Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Make sure that you have sufficient mobile phone and satellite reception.

The PIWIS Tester instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester.
> 903519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING GATEWAY CONTROL UNIT
On vehicles with country code C02/C36 (USA/Canada) and optional control unit - external communication (Connect control unit), the PVTS control unit is integrated in the control unit - external communication.
> 912519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT - EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION
On vehicles with optional I-no. NZ3 (emergency call system ERA GLONASS), the PVTS control unit is located under the rear-end electronics control unit.
- Connect Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Switch to the PPN portal Porsche Car Connect Support.
- Select Replacement of devices.
- 3.1 Enter the vehicle identification no.
- 3.2 Check vehicle details; the vehicle contract status must be set to active.
- 3.3 Press the button Initialise procedure for replacing a device.
- 3.4 Select a reason for replacement.
- 3.5 Start Replacement of devices.
- 3.6 Wait for the timer to end, read instructions and press Next.
- 3.7 Document the displayed installation code.
- 3.8 Exit the portal and replace control unit.
Information
Before installing the new control unit, the control unit specifications must be documented/photographed.
If a problem occurs while teaching/activating the control unit following installation, you will need the control unit specifications for the Hotline.
- Read and carry out the following instructions:
- In the Overview, select the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS) control unit. Press F12 to continue. Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Maintenance/repairs.
- Select Commissioning. Press F12 to continue.
- Read the warnings displayed on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
- Perform procedure according to menu guidance. Read and follow the information and instructions on the Tester.
- Back to the overview.
- Read out error memory and delete if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect Tester from vehicle.
