Removing Clutch Pedal

  • Risk of squashing or bruising
    • forward Do not reach into the danger area.
    • forward Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
    • forward Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

Information 

Brake fluid is hygroscopic! Close off all lines immediately using suitable stoppers.

Brake fluid will flow from the lines. Place a cloth under the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Release electric plug connection on the clutch master cylinder -arrow a-  and disconnect it -arrow A-  .

  2. Disconnect the supply and pressure hoses on the clutch master cylinder.

    1. 2.1 Pull off supply hose -1-  (-arrow A-  ) and close it off using a suitable stopper.
    2. 2.2 Release the lock -2-  using a screwdriver -arrow b-  .
    3. 2.3 Pull off pressure hose -3-  (-arrow B-  ) and close it off using a suitable stopper.
  3. Disengage push rod for brake booster (in the footwell).

    1. 3.1 > T40024 - Unlocking tool -1-  must be inserted ahead of the ball joint on the push rod -2-  from below.
    2. 3.2 Press the unlocking tool together -arrows A-  and separate the ball joint from the securing clip -3-  (-arrow B-  ).
  4. Remove mounting saddle.
    1. 4.1 Unscrew fastening screws -Arrows-  above the brake booster.

    2. 4.2 Unscrew fastening screws -Arrows-  from the brake booster.

    3. 4.3 Unscrew fastening nut -2-  on the inside of the mounting saddle -1-  .

    4. 4.4 Remove mounting saddle.
  5. Secure the clutch power spring assembly on the removed support.
    1. 5.1 Press the clutch pedal -1-  slightly until the clutch power spring axle -2-  is visible through the bore -3-  .

    2. 5.2 Guide a suitable cotter pin into the bore -3-  on the clutch power spring axle -2-  .
  6. Loosen clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal -2-  .

    1. 6.1 Release retaining clip for push rod -1-  on the clutch pedal -2-  using > T10005 - pliers  (-arrows A -  ) and pull out the push rod -arrow B-  .
    2. 6.2 Turn the clutch master cylinder anti-clockwise by approx. 60° -arrow A-  .

    3. 6.3 Pull the clutch master cylinder out slightly -arrow B-  .
  7. Remove pedal shaft -2-  .
    1. 7.1 Remove retaining clip -1-  from the pedal shaft -2-  using a screwdriver -arrow A-  .

    2. 7.2 Press pedal shaft -2-  through to the left -arrow B-  and remove it.
  8. Remove clutch pedal.

    1. 8.1 Pull the clutch pedal -1-  down -arrow A-  until the clutch power spring assembly -2-  disengages.
    2. 8.2 Turn the clutch pedal -1-  and clutch power spring assembly -2-  (-arrow B-  ) and remove it from the bearing bracket.
