Passenger's side
- Triggering of airbag unit.
- System faults can occur.
→ Switch off ignition and remove ignition key or remote control (hand-held transmitter).
→ A voltage supply (e.g. battery charger) must not be connected to the external power supply/jump-lead starting terminals.
→ Disconnect the battery and insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.
→ Wait 1 minute after disconnecting the battery.
→ Only pull off connector on the triggering unit after the waiting time has elapsed.
→ Make sure that no foreign objects are located in front of the airbag unit during installation.
→ Replace damaged parts during removal.
→ Always position airbag units so that the blow-out opening is facing upwards, e.g. crest on driver's airbag.
→ Do not position anything on the airbag units.
→ If removed for an extended period, the airbag units must be stored in a safe place.
→ Airbag units must not come into contact with grease, oil, detergents, liquids, or similar substances.
→ Do not expose airbag units to temperatures of more than 90°C.
→ Do not remove the short-circuit spring on the plug-in contacts.
→ Ignition and preparations may only be carried out by skilled staff, supervised by a second responsible person.
→ Before disposal, the airbag unit must be rendered harmless by electrical ignition performed in accordance with all precautionary measures, thereby preventing it from being used incorrectly.
Information
Only ignite airbag units that are securely installed and in original condition in the vehicle. Allow airbag units to cool down under observation following ignition.
- Use only the ignition tool intended for this purpose. First remove all loose objects from the expansion area of the airbag.
- Every ignition circuit for all airbag units and seat-belt pretensioners must be ignited individually.
- Persons who may be affected must be informed of the resulting noise beforehand.
- Wear ear protectors.
- Keep a safe distance by utilising the entire cable length of the ignition tool. Do not connect the voltage source until all other preparations are complete.
- If ignition fails, wait for approx. 3 minutes before approaching the vehicle.
- Carry out ignition only in suitable, open areas.
- Do not allow ignited airbag units to come into contact with the skin.

- 1st stage - from adapter cable 9257/7 at the airbag unit first.
Information
- This is a two-stage airbag module with a connection for the 1st stage at the left in direction of travel and a connection for the 2nd stage at the right in direction of travel.
- Connect the > 9257 - detonator to the 2-pin connector -F- of the > 9257/7 - adapter cable .
- Place detonator in front of the vehicle through the door gap.
- After the airbag is triggered, repeat the step on the second connection of the airbag unit with connector -E- - 2nd stage.
