Removing Rear Brake CALLIPER

Information 

Powder-coated brake callipers on S models (red brake callipers)

Make sure that as few components as possible come into contact with brake fluid.

Brake fluid must not get onto the brake pads because if it does, the brake pads will have to be replaced!

  1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for the brake pad wear indicator -1-  and remove it from the holder -2- (-arrow-  ).
  2. Unscrew and remove fastening screw for the holder -2- 
  3. Remove holder -2-  from the wheel carrier.

  4. Remove brake line.
    1. 4.1  Remove brake line from the brake calliper and collect escaping brake fluid in a suitable container.
    2. 4.2  Close off the brake line and bore on the brake calliper using suitable stoppers.
  5. Remove brake calliper.
    1. 5.1  Unscrew fastening screws -arrows-  .

      Information 

      If the brake calliper cannot be removed easily, the brake pads must be pressed back slightly and evenly using a suitable tool (e.g. an assembly wedge) in order to get over the edge of the brake disc. To prevent damage, do not insert hard objects between the brake pad and brake disc! 

    2. 5.2  Carefully remove the brake calliper.
