Removing Front Brake CALLIPER
Information
Make sure that as few components as possible come into contact with brake fluid.
Brake fluid must not get onto the brake pads because if it does, the brake pads will have to be replaced
- Only required if the brake calliper must be removed as part of the preliminary work (brake line remains fitted):
Expose line bracket -1-
on the wheel bearing housing
Holder on wheel bearing housing
Holder on wheel bearing housing (GT3/GT3 RS)
- 1.1 Unclip electric lines at the holder -1-
- 1.2
Unscrew screw(s)-2-
.
Information
Brake fluid - even thinned brake fluid - causes corrosion on electric contacts, thereby impairing functions.
- Disconnect electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1-
from wheel carrier holder -2-
.
- 2.1 Remove electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1- . from wheel carrier holder -2- .
- 2.2 Release and disconnect electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1- .
- 2.3
Protect electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1-
from brake fluid and other contaminants as required, e.g. using a plastic bag.

- Unclip electric line from brake line -2-
(-3-).

NOTE: Powder-coated brake callipers on S models (red brake callipers)- Extended exposure to brake fluid can damage the coating.
→ During servicing, clean the brake callipers as quickly as possible to remove all traces of brake fluid
- Extended exposure to brake fluid can damage the coating.
- Disconnect brake line -1-
from brake calliper -2-
.
- 4.1 Place a suitable container underneath to collect emerging brake fluid and have a suitable stopper ready for closing off the brake line -1- and the connection opening on the brake calliper -2- .
- 4.2 Unscrew cap screw -3- on the brake line -1- and disconnect brake line -1- from brake calliper -2- .
- 4.3 Collect emerging brake fluid in a container and close off brake line -1- and connection opening on the brake calliper -2- with stoppers.
- 4.4
Clean off any escaping brake fluid immediately using suitable cleaning aids.
Wash affected components again with water and dry them.

Information
If the brake calliper cannot be removed easily, the brake pads must be pressed back slightly and evenly using a suitable tool (e.g. an assembly wedge) in order to get over the edge of the brake disc. To prevent damage, do not insert hard objects between the brake pad and brake disc!
- Carefully remove brake calliper.
