Draining Coolant At The Coolant Regulator

WARNING: Hot fluid

Danger of scalding
- → Let the fluid cool down.
- → Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Caustic fluids

Danger of chemical burns
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- → Ensure that there is good ventilation.
- → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
- → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Open cap -1- on the coolant reservoir in the luggage compartment and remove it.

Coolant reservoir
Have a suitable container ready for collecting coolant.
Unscrew coolant drain plug -1- on the coolant regulator housing and collect emerging coolant.
After draining the coolant, screw in and tighten the coolant drain plug -1- with a new sealing ring .
> Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.) +/- 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)

Coolant drain plug
Loosen spring clamps -2- on the plug-in couplings.
Pull coolant hoses -1- off the coolant pipes and collect emerging coolant.
Re-fit spring clamps -2- , but do not connect coolant hoses -1- yet.

Coolant hoses
Replace O-rings.
Coat new O-rings with the specified lubricant.
Fit coolant hoses and pull on them to check that they are secure.
