Installing Drive Shaft
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- On used and new drive shafts, clean the bores on the inner halfshaft flange with a cloth soaked in brake cleaner.
- Check drive shaft.
- 2.1 Check inner/outer bellows for damage/cracks and replace them if necessary.
- Grease the drive shaft toothing with Optimoly HT.
The thread must not be greased!
- Insert drive shaft into the wheel bearing housing and fit it at the transmission flange.
- 4.1 Fit new axle nut (securing drive shaft to wheel bearing housing) and tighten until it touches the wheel hub.
- Install steering tie rod and rear trailing arm.
- 5.1
Fit rear trailing arm and steering tie rod on the wheel bearing housing and screw on and tighten fastening nuts.
Collar nut on rear trailing arm: > Tightening torque 120 Nm (88.5 ftlb.)
Collar nut on steering tie rod: > Tightening torque 85 Nm (62.7 ftlb.)

Fit rear trailing arm and steering tie rod on the wheel bearing housing and screw on and tighten fastening nuts.
- Fit connecting link -2-
on the anti-roll bar, screw on new nuts -1-
and tighten them.
> Initial tightening 40 Nm (29.5 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 30°
Securing stabilizer
- Fit the new drive shaft bolts together with the shims on the gearbox flange and tighten.
Drive shaft mounting on transmission side
- 7.1 982 vehicles (not GT4/GT4 RS/718 Spyder):
> Initial tightening for 35 Nm (0 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 90°
- 7.2 982 GT4/GT4 RS/718 Spyder:

Information
- Brake calliper screws can always be re-used if no damage can be identified.
- Replace damaged bolts.
- Observe different tightening specifications!
- 7.1 982 vehicles (not GT4/GT4 RS/718 Spyder):
- Install brake calliper rear with line bracket.
- 8.1
Fit brake calliper together with the holder and fit and tighten new brake calliper screws -Arrows-
.
When re-using the screws: > Tightening torque 85 Nm (62.7 ftlb.)
New screws: > Initial tightening 30 Nm (22.1 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 75°
Brake calliper screws
- 8.2
Place bolts -6-
on the wheel bearing housing and tighten. > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
Bracket on wheel bearing housing
- 8.3 Connect and lock cable plug for rpm sensor -3- .
- 8.4 Plug in the PASM -4- cable connector, snap it into place and clip it into the line fuse -5- on the holder -7- .
- 8.5 Plug in and lock electric plug connection for electric parking brake (EPB) -1- and clip the line into the cable retainer -2- ,
