Removing Fuel Injector

Highly inflammable or explosive materials
- Danger of fire or explosion
- → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
- → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
- → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
- → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
- → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

Dirt on injection system components

- → Thoroughly clean connection points and adjacent areas before loosening them. If the engine is very dirty, wash it before starting disassembly work.
- → Lay removed parts on a clean surface and cover them. Do not use fibre-shedding cloths.
- → Carefully cover components or seal them if repair work will not be carried out immediately. Place rubber caps on connections. Seal intake openings with film or adhesive tape.
- → Only install clean parts. Do not take spare parts out of the packaging until just before installation.
- → Never use compressed air when the system is open. Do not move the vehicle.
Information
- When removing and installing the fuel collection pipe, always replace the spring clamp and O-ring on the fuel injector.
- When removing and installing the fuel injectors, also replace the large O-ring and the Teflon ring in order to guarantee function and prevent leaks.

- The procedure for removing and installing the fuel injectors is described using the tools from the > T10133C - Tool set:

- If the fuel injectors were already removed together with the fuel collection pipe, remove the spring clamps and pull the fuel injectors out of the fuel collection pipe.
- If the fuel injectors are still installed:
- 2.1 Carefully loosen the fuel injector using a rotary motion.
- 2.2 Screw M8 screw into the > T10133/33 - puller and fit it on the fuel injector.
- 2.3 Pull on the screw head using pliers in order to release the fuel injector from the cylinder head bore.
- 2.4 Remove fuel injector.
- Carefully clean fitting bores on the cylinder head using a brush from the tool set.
- 3.1 Remove loose parts using a vacuum cleaner.
- 3.2 Soak a small, clean and lint-free cloth in acetone or solvent naphtha and carefully clean the bores.
- 3.3 Leave components to dry off.
- Fuel injectors that are to be re-installed must be cleaned (see Cleaning fuel injectors).
We recommend cleaning the parts in an ultrasound bath!
