Preliminary Work

Remove engine compartment lid.
> WM, 557819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID .
Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
1. 2.1 Remove cover on the fuse carrier in the passenger compartment at the front left.
2. 2.2 In row B -1 -, pull out the (20-amp) fuse -2 - for the fuel pump.

Start the engine and wait until it cuts out.
This can take up to 5 minutes!
Loosen charge-air cooler.
> 214319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CHARGE-AIR COOLER

1. 4.1 Loosen screws on the charge-air cooler and loosen screw-type clamps on the moulded hose for the throttle housing.
2. 4.2 Push charge-air cooler towards the air cleaner housing.
