Installation position of hydraulic unit

Information

The hydraulic unit and the related control unit form one unit. The control unit can only be replaced together with the hydraulic unit.

Information

When carrying out work during which fluids can escape, leave electric plug connections to be disconnected locked and connected for as long as possible. This prevents fluid from getting onto electric contacts and causing corrosion

  1. Switch off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect brake lines from hydraulic unit.
    1. 2.1  Mark brake lines and their installation positions on the hydraulic unit clearly with -Steps- using a touch-up stick, for example.
    2. 2.2  Place suitable material, e.g. clean, absorbent cloths, under the brake lines on the hydraulic unit to collect emerging brake fluid.
    3. 2.3  Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the brake lines and bores on the hydraulic unit.
    4. 2.4  Disconnect brake lines going to the brake callipers.
      1. 2.4.1  Unscrew cap screws -1, 2, 3 and 4-  on brake lines for the brake callipers from the hydraulic unit.

        Information

Brake lines must not be bent.

      2. 2.4.2  Pull brake lines at the loosened cap screws -), 2, 3and 4- out of the hydraulic unit one after the other and close off brake lines going to the brake callipers as well as the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit immediately using stoppers.
    5. 2.5  Disconnect brake lines going to the brake master cylinder.

      Information

Brake lines must not be bent.

      1. 2.5.1  Carefully move brake lines for the brake callipers aside and secure them using suitable aids if necessary.
      2. 2.5.2  Unscrew cap screws -5 and 6- on the brake lines for the brake master cylinder from the hydraulic unit.

        Information

Brake lines must not be bent.

      3. 2.5.3  Pull brake lines at the loosened cap screws -5 and 6- out of the hydraulic unit one after the other and close off brake lines going to the brake master cylinder as well as the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit immediately using stoppers.
    6. 2.6  Clean off any escaping brake fluid immediately using suitable cleaning aids.

Wash affected components again with water and dry them.

      Information

The electric plug connection on the control unit for the hydraulic unit is accessible via the wheel housing after removing the front section of the front wheel housing liner at the left.

  3. Disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit.
    1. 3.1  Clean any dirt off electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit and dry it.
    2. 3.2  Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit.
      1. 3.2.1  Press in clip on connector housing -arrow A-  and keep it pressed in order to move the latch -2-
      2. 3.2.2  Move the latch -2-  upwards -arrow B-  .
      3. 3.2.3  Disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit.

        Information

Brake fluid - even thinned brake fluid - causes corrosion on electric contacts, thereby impairing functions.

      4. 3.2.4  Protect connector and socket of the electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit from contact with brake fluid and other contaminants using suitable aids, e.g. a plastic bag.
