Installing Hydraulic Unit Information

The rubber buffers provide sound insulation. This is only guaranteed if the rubber buffers are fitted correctly and are undamaged.

1. Check that rubber buffer -1-  is fitted correctly and is not damaged; adjust or replace it if necessary. Information
2. Guide pins -2-  on the hydraulic unit -3-  into rubber buffer -1- (-arrows A-)  and press them in until they engage securely

   Installing hydraulic unit (shown as an example)

   Information 

   The electric plug connection on the control unit for the hydraulic unit is accessible via the wheel housing after removing the front section of the front wheel housing liner at the left.

3. Connect electric plug connection on control unit -1-  for the hydraulic unit.
   1. 3.1  Remove protection against contact with brake fluid and other contaminants from the connector and socket of the electric plug connection -1-  on the control unit for the hydraulic unit.
   2. 3.2  Connect and lock electric plug connection on control unit -1-  for the hydraulic unit.
      1. 3.2.1  Connect electric plug connection on control unit -1-  for the hydraulic unit.
      2. 3.2.2  Fold the latch -2-  down -arrow A- until the lock engages securely.

4. Fit brake lines on hydraulic unit.
   1. 4.1  Place suitable material, e.g. clean, absorbent cloths, under the brake line connections on the hydraulic unit to collect emerging brake fluid
   2. 4.2  Clean the brake line connections on the hydraulic unit using suitable cleaning aids.
   3. 4.3  Fit brake lines going to the brake master cylinder.

      Information 

      Brake lines must not be bent.

      1. 4.3.1  Remove stoppers from brake lines going to the brake master cylinder and the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit one after the other and guide brake lines for the brake master cylinder into the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit in accordance with the markings.
      2. 4.3.2  Tighten cap screws -5 and 6- to > Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 ftlb.)  .
   4. 4.4  Fit brake lines going to the brake callipers.

      Information 

      Brake lines must not be bent.

      1. 4.4.1  Remove stoppers from brake lines going to the brake callipers and the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit one after the other and guide brake lines for the brake callipers into the relevant bores on the hydraulic unit in accordance with the markings.
      2. 4.4.2  Tighten cap screws -1. 2. 3 and 4-  to > Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 ftlb.)  .
   5. 4.5  Clean off any escaping brake fluid immediately using suitable cleaning aids.

      Wash affected components again with water and dry them.
