Replacing PASM Control Unit

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 

    → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

    → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

    → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the required vehicle type.
  3. Select the PASM  control unit in the overview. 
  4. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected. Press to continue.
  5. Select the PASM/PADM start-up  function. Press to continue.
  6. Read the preconditions for start-up. Press to continue.
  7. Check vehicle identification number. Press or to continue.
  8. Wait for confirmation that coding was completed successfully. 

    Vehicle without PASM 

  9. Press to end the process.

    Vehicle with PASM 

  10. Press to continue.
  11. Start the calibration process by pressing
  12. Wait for confirmation that calibration was completed successfully.  Press to continue
  13. Press to end the start-up process.
  14. Erase the fault memory and switch off ignition.
  15. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
  16. Perform a test drive and check function of PASM and PADM.
